From time to time, and especially after so much use, batteries do fizzle out. Sometimes the life of the battery just doesn’t seem to last as long and eventually it widdles down to no life at all. Other times they may just cease to work at all whether it is the users fault or not. Luckily, most of Panasonic cordless drill batteries are detachable and can be replace easily.

The draw back to ordering a new battery is that they are not cheap. You can almost purchase a new drill with the cost of some of these batteries. It may be wise to first check and see if your drill is still under warranty. If it is, put your wallet away, that battery should be 100% covered. If not, here are some options…

You can always look on eBay. Many times you may find someone selling their entire drill or maybe they just have a few extra batteries that they have never used and are willing to give up for a lower cost than that of buying it brand new. Of course there is the problem that if you buy a used battery, you really never know what you are going to get. It may end up being as bad or worse than the battery you need to replace or it could be better. You just never know.

Amazon.com sells a few Panasonic cordless drill batteries. They are listed as follows:

Panasonic EY9231B 15.6-Volt 3.5 Amp Hour niNH Pod Style Battery

- This specific Panasonic cordless drill battery charges full in under 45 minutes. This will allow you short resting periods between jobs. Many other batteries take much longer to charge full than 45 minutes.

- This battery is small but its 3.5 amp design gives it more power and torque than other batteries.

- It comes equipped with a new technologically advanced ventilation system that not only keeps it from overheating, but it also extends the life of the battery and the duration of the charge.

This battery will work on any Panasonic 15.6v cordless tool. It sells new for $102 and used starting at $70.

On Amazon they also have a like battery for 18v Panasonic cordless drills. This is a new replacement battery and it runs new at $90 but comes with a 1 year warranty.

Since the Panasonic Cordless Drill Batteries are fairly expensive new, it would be my suggestion to search in your local area first to see what else you may be able to find for cheaper. That or you could always break out the old school drill with the long extension cord.
